The Diamond Point Project is located in the prolific Carlin Trend in Nevada approximately 35 kilometers (22 miles) southeast of Gold Standard Ventures evolving Railroad-Pinion district and 26 kilometers (16 miles) northwest of Kinross Gold's Bald Mountain district.
The property consists of 109 unpatented mining claims administered by the BLM and controlled by Renaissance.
The Diamond Point project area has seen fairly limited historic exploration. The first phase of exploration was completed by MK Gold in the late 1990's and included 3,074 meters (10,085 feet) of RC drilling on outcropping gold-bearing jasperoids. Sixty-eight 1.5 meter (5 foot) intervals in the MK drill program exceeded 0.100 g/t. The best intercept in the program was 1.5 meters of 2.3 g/t Au along with 2960 ppm As within a larger interval of 12.2 meters of 0.3 g/t Au. Max Resource Corp. in joint venture with Kokanee Resources completed two core holes totaling 160 meters (525 feet), offsetting mineralization intercepted in the MK Gold drill program. The best intercept reported by Max Resources was 7.6 meters of 0.59 g/t Au. Anglo Gold completed CSAMT surveys across the pediment to the north of the outcropping jasperoids and drilled 3 widely spaced holes totaling 693 meters (2,275 feet). Anglo did not intercept significant gold mineralization, but their drill data are used in conjunction with the CSAMT data to define the projection of the mineralized fault zone. Kinross Gold U.S.A joint ventured the project in 2017 and drilled 1200 meters (3,940 feet) of RC drilling in 6 holes. The Kinross program was a scout drilling campaign targeting open pit mineable mineralization in the pediment northwest of Diamond Point. The best intercept from that campaign was 5 feet of 0.291 g/t Au in the West Fault zone. Previous drilling is historic in nature and has not been verified by Renaissance Gold's qualified person (QP).
The Diamond Point project covers a zone of gold-bearing jasperoids that occur in the Mississippian Diamond Peak and Chainman Shale stratigraphic units. Two steeply west-dipping subparallel normal faults, the East and West faults, lying about 130 m apart control the gold mineralization in the area. These faults occur between two mapped synforms and are interpreted to represent a ruptured antiform pair. The south end of the structural zone is a Tertiary intrusive center with associated weak polymetallic carbonate replacement mineralization and skarn development. Multiple Tertiary dikes are mapped striking north-northeast into the covered pediment target. The primary target on the project is intersection of these mineralized fault zones with favorable host stratigraphy at the Devonian unconformity.
Outcropping gold mineralization along the West Fault occurs in jasperoids. Sixteen rock chip samples taken by Renaissance returned Au values ranging from 6.7 g/t (6700 ppb) to below detection limit, <0.001 g/t, and Carlin-style pathfinder elements including arsenic from 6 -1620 ppm and antimony from 4-787 ppm above the favorable host rocks. Mineralization on the property occurs in decalcified liesegang banded siltstones within the Chainman Shale as well as in carbonate units in the overlying Diamond Peak. The favorable stratigraphy for Carlin-type gold deposits to the northwest and to the southeast is the units below the Chainman shale near the Mississippian/Devonian unconformity which is not exposed and has never been drill tested in this district.
Samples for this project have been analyzed by ALS Global of Reno, Nevada using fire assay for gold and a four acid digestion for multi-element geochemistry.
